DADDY DANCE

You and your family are cordially invited to join us for Daddy Dance. It will be held on February 27th, and February 29th starting at 4:30 pm. Our performance location will be at Alfred G. Waters Middle School, in Middletown, DE. Your child’s exact day and time of performance is listed below. There is no ticket fee for this event. Your class tuition covers any fees. Please remember that there will be no classes held at Dancing Lights, Green Acres, or TLK during this week, unless otherwise notified.

Daddy’s During the week of Valentines Day, February 13th – 17th, 2012, and the week of February 20th – 24th, 2012, you are invited to attend a practice dance session with your daughter. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the end of her dance class for a quick instructional period during these two weeks. This is not required, but a fun time for all. Daycare parents, we understand that this is during the workday! If dad is not available, moms make a wonderful substitute. We ALWAYS go over the dances and do a practice run-through on stage prior to performing!

Attire Our dancers are asked to wear their favorite dress. Please be sure to bring their ballet shoes, as they will be needed for their performance. Daddy’s can wear what they would like. We have had very casual (jeans), military dress, to full out tuxedo!

Flowers – All ballerinas love to receive flowers! This is a traditional way to show the ballerina in your life that you truly enjoyed her performance. In the past, most of the parents have given flowers to the ballerinas. Inevitably, there is always a little ballerina who does not receive a flower and feels left out. Even a single flower with a bow will make your ballerinas hearts soar!

Reminders

Write names inside all ballet & tap shoes. Label all/any personal belongings your dancer may bring into class (dance bags, stuffed toys, jackets). We have noticed that a lot of our students are wearing hand-me-down shoes. Some of which are too large. Please note, that socks can be worn to aid in the fit of the shoe. Make sure that your daughter wears the socks with her ballet shoes. This will speed up the changing of shoes and not take away from class time. Please remember to knot (several times) your daughter’s ballet shoes and cut off the excess.

Waiting Room

NO SIBLINGS are allowed in the dance room during class. We are allowing siblings to wait with a parent in the lobby. Please be sure to supervise your child so they do not become disruptive to the class in session. Please do not allow them to stand on the benches (this is a safety hazard). We understand that they are excited to see their sibling dancing, but please do not let them bang on the window to get her attention. This is extremely disruptive to the entire class. Please remember that there is no food allowed in the lobby.

Bathroom
The dancing school bathroom is reserved for dancers only, unless there is an emergency in the waiting room. Please try to wait until class is over. We do understand that this is sometimes just not possible.

Class Observation
If you are observing in the classroom, or feel the need to stay, please arrange a sitter for your other child(ren). Be sure to arrange this in advance.

Treats
We do like to reward our dancers for their hard work. We occasionally hand out stickers, stamps or lollipops (or other treat) at the end of class. These treats are for our dancers only. We do not purchase enough supplies for siblings. Please remind your daughter that they need to take the treat with them and are not to eat them in the dance school.

Dance Floor
If you need to come into the dance room for any reason, please remember to take off your street shoes. This goes for our dancers as well. They need to come into the dance room with the proper dance shoes already on their feet.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

BALLET I through ADVANCED Absence Policy

We are adhering to a strict absence policy this year. If you are absent for 5 or more classes, for any reason, you will be required to take a private class, held on a Saturday. The cost of this class is $25.00. We are no longer able to accommodate make-ups within other classes at Dancing Lights.

ATTIRE – Please note that on the last day of class each month, your dancer may wear a colored shirt or leotard of their choice.
