CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Pre-Ballet A & Pre-Ballet B Classes are each two year programs.

CLASS	AGE	DESCRIPTION
Premi-Ballerinas	2 ½-3	Ballet Only - Children are Encouraged to have fun, dance, sing an use their imagination. These beginning exercises will help develop Flexibility, coordination & self-awareness.
Preballet A & B Classes based on previous dance experience.	4 – 6 6 - 8 8 -10	Ballet, Jazz, Tap – Children learn the age appropriate fundamentals of dance, geared toward their physical & emotional development.
Ballet I 3 year program	8 - 11	Ballet, Jazz, Tap – 4+ years exp., are introduced to serious ballet training with an emphasis on placement & technique.
Ballet II 3 year program	11-14	Ballet, Jazz, Tap – 5+ years exp, continuation of I, with continued focus on placement, technique & self-discipline.
Advanced Ballet I, II, III, IV	11 +	Ballet, Jazz, Tap – 7 + years Students dedicated to going on pointe. This requires extra instruction with special attention to strength training & strict classic ballet disciplines.
Adult Tap	18 +	Beginner & Int. Tap

Advanced Ballet Students may take all of the offered classes or may choose to take an individual class. Based on registration, we may add or delete classes. Please let us know if your schedule does not accommodate any of the offered classes. We will try our best to accommodate you.

Your child’s placement is based on years of experience in dance. If you are confused about this, please contact Miss Kristin for clarification.

ATTIRE

All dancers need pink leather ballet shoes except Adult Tap. All but the Premi-ballerinas need black tap shoes. Please provide tap bands for patent leather shoes. Pink, White, Black or Blue leotards in any style are acceptable dance wear for Premi, Pre A and Pre B Students. Skirts, tutus and legwarmers are optional. Ballet I and Advanced Dancers, please visit our Attire section for more detailed information. All dancers must wear their hair pulled up off of their face and neck in a pony tail or bun. Please write names in shoes and dance bags. No jewelry except for Medical ID’s. Pierced Ear Studs are acceptable.

Class Structure/Attire

Classes will begin the week of July 19, 2010 and run through August 21, 2010

Peach Festival Performance is on Saturday, August 21, 2010.

All dancers need pink ballet shoes. Pre A, Pre B and Ballet I & II classes need black tap shoes. Tap shoes must be Capezio teletone or Bloch Ultratone. The Pre A and Pre B class requires a Mary Jane style tap shoe.

Dancers must wear their hair in a ponytail or bun. A leotard is required, but tights are optional due to the summer heat. You can purchase footless or transitional tights as well.

No jewelry may be worn around the neck or on the arms, ankles, or fingers for the safety of the dancer. Earrings are permitted.

Tuition

Tuition is $80.00 for five hours of instruction. There is a $10.00 discount for each additional dancer in the family. Tuition is due by June 30, 2009 and should be mailed to: The Dancing Lights Ballet School, P.O. Box 63, Odessa, DE 19730.

Registration

There is a one time registration fee of $25.00 for each family payable with your registration form. The fee is $25.00 regardless of the number of dancers in the family. The registration fee is due with your tuition by June 30, 2010.

PEACH FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE

We will be performing in Middletown’s Historical Peach Festival Parade on August 21, 2010. The girls will be required to wear white shorts or white skorts and a Peach Festival T-Shirts. Fee for the T-Shirt will be announced closer to the event.

We will have a Peach Festival rehearsal on the evening of Friday August 20, 2010 at the dance school for all summer dancers. Please place these dates on your calendar.
