GENERAL INFORMATION FOR DAY CARES
Welcome to the Dancing Lights Ballet School 2009-2010 program. Thank you to all of our dancers who have already signed up for our dance program. You have signed on for a fun-filled year of dance. The Dancing Lights Ballet School is designed to enhance your child’s creativity in a noncompetitive environment. With a fairytale tone, children are inspired to dance, sing, laugh and act theatrically proving a strong individual focus on their own achievements, abilities and coordination.
Instructors Kristin Pontius (Miss Kristin) and Heather Ley (Miss Heather) will work together as a team providing a fun-filled, exciting program. Dancers will experience and learn graciousness, kindness and good attitude through dance. Be sure to ask your dancer about her dance classes! The girls are having a great time doing Dancing Your Dreams, Swan Princess, Jessie the Cowgirl, etc.
Dance Attire: Dancers are required to wear leotards, tights and pink leather ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled back into a bun or ponytail off of the face and shoulders. Please be sure to send your child to school with their ballet clothes on and their street clothes on top. There is no class time to change students.
Closings: There are no make-ups for inclement weather and holiday closings. Inclement weather closings will be recorded on our school answering machine and posted on our web site (www.thedancinglights.com) . Holiday closings are also listed on our website.

If you are not at the daycare on these days, you may bring your child in just for their 45 minute dance class or you may try another class at our dance school.
Two or more inclement weather closings will result in a make-up class at the availability of teachers. Your tuition will be refunded if your child does not continue with classes.
We are offering a 5% discount for paying the annual tuition in full. There is a $10 discount for each additional family member. A costume fee of $80 is due by November 5th by separate check. This is for the Spring Recital. There may be a second costume fee. This will be determined at a later date.
REGISTRATION
There is a $25 family registration fee. This is a per year fee. If you have already paid this during summer session, you do not need to pay again. Class cancellations may occur if a class fails to reach the minimum number of required students. Classes begin on October 5, 2009. Classes end in June 2009.
RECITAL
Participation is optional and non-competitive in all performances. You have until November 1, 2009 to make a final decision on Recital participation. A costume fee of $80 is due by November 5th by separate check.
Recital will be held on June 5, 2010. Our performance location will be at Alfred G. Waters Middle School in Middletown.
Dress Rehearsal will be held on June 3rd (5-9pm) and June 4th
(5-9 pm) at AG Waters Middle School in Middletown.

COMMUNICATION
Your registration form also serves as our emergency contact sheet. If you have not turned in your form, please do so immediately. Please be sure that we have your correct email address.
We will be emailing all New Letters
If you are in a family with two separate households, please provide us with the contact information for both households. This will enable both sets of parents to receive the proper information in a timely manner.
REMINDERS
Write names inside all ballet & tap shoes. Label all/any personal belongings your dancer may bring into class (dance bags, stuffed toys, jackets). Tie ballet slippers, knot and cut excess.

Closures
Please note our closure schedule below. These are the only dates that we are closed (pending a state of emergency). We only LOOSELY follow the Appoquinimink School Districts closures.
March – We will be closed the week of April 2 - 9, 2010 for Spring Break.
May – We will be closed on May 31, 2010 for Memorial Day.
These dates are already planned into our dance schedule. There will be no make-up classes.

Daddy Dance
You are cordially invited to joint us for Daddy Dance. It will be held on March 1st and 2nd, 2010 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. Our performance location will be on the campus of St. Andrews School in Engelhard Hall. Your child’s exact day and time is listed below. There is no ticket fee for this event. Your class tuition covers any fees. Please remember that there will be no classes held at Dancing Lights, Green Acres, or TLK during this week, unless otherwise notified.
Daddy’s - During the week before Valentines Day, February 8th – 12th, 2010, you are invited to attend a practice dance session with your daughter. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the end of her dance class for a quick instructional period. This is not required, but a fun time for all. Daycare parents, we understand that this is during the workday! If dad is not available, moms make a wonderful substitute.
Attire – Our dancers are asked to wear their favorite dress. Please be sure to bring their ballet shoes, as they will be needed for their performance.
Flowers – All ballerinas love to receive flowers! This is a traditional way to show the ballerina in your life that you truly enjoyed her performance. In the past, most of the parents have given flowers to the ballerinas. Inevitably, there is always a little ballerina who does not receive a flower and feels left out. Even a single flower with a bow will make your ballerinas hearts soar!

This is just a reminder that costume payments were due in November. Due to the state of the economy, we pushed off ordering costumes to give everyone time to get their money in. There are still quite a few people who have not turned in their costume fees at this time. We can delay no longer. Costumes will be ordered immediately. If you have not contacted Kristin directly to make payment arrangements, you must do so immediately or a costume WILL NOT be ordered for your child. There are NO late orders or add-ons.
When your child’s dance and costume has been decided, you will be provided with the song title and artist they are performing to (so you can get it from I-tunes or Wal-Mart music) and we will provide you with a picture of your child’s costume. Please remember to reserve any questions regarding recital dances or costumes for Miss Kristin. You will be provided with all of the information shortly.
